About Me

Welcome to Triple Locked Adventures! I’m Matt, the creator behind this platform where I share my overlanding adventures, vehicle builds, gear reviews, and more. My passion for vehicles and adventure began at a young age. Growing up in a small farm town, I made the most of what I had—riding snowmobiles, four-wheelers, and bicycles. These early experiences sparked a lifelong love for anything with wheels and engines.

My first 4WD vehicle was a 2009 Nissan Xterra, which introduced me to the world of camping, mountain biking, and off-roading. This experience, combined with my fascination of shows like Top Gear, Overhaulin', Fast N Loud, Monster Garage, and Gearz planted the seeds for my overlanding journey. For a deeper dive into how my passion evolved and the foundation of Triple Locked Adventures, check out The Story Behind Triple Locked Adventures.

With a background in the automotive field, I’ve worn many hats—ranging from B2B sales for an aftermarket performance supplier to a service advisor at a top Subaru dealership, and even as a manager at an independent automotive service shop specializing in import cars. My knowledge is self-taught through a mix of hands-on experience, YouTube, and articles, which has led to both successes and learning experiences.

One of my proudest achievements is my 2012 Lexus GX460 overland build. This project was a labor of love, with most of the work done by me, apart from a few tasks completed by professionals. The process of researching, planning, and executing this build has been incredibly rewarding.

Beyond vehicles, I’m a tech enthusiast who loves gadgets and gear. I’ve recently delved into photography and am currently soaking up all the knowledge I can. When I’m not engaged in automotive projects, you might find me out on the trails with my mountain bike, which I’ve also customized and built myself.

My advice for those new to overlanding? Start small. Discover what works for you and build from there. Overlanding is a journey, and adapting along the way is part of the adventure.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope Triple Locked Adventures becomes both a resource and inspiration for your own overlanding adventures!
